Best known for his montage paintings of historical images and sport figures, Greensboro artist Vance Garvin will offer a variety of subject matter expressed in different media to help raise funds and awareness for Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test.
“My favorite media is pencil." Says Garvin, who has won awards in national design competitions and juried shows. After spending 30 years in a career as an illustrator, concentrating on architectural subjects, Vance has since redirected his energy to fine art. Vance has studied with New England artists Murray Wentworth and Larry Webster. Most recently, Garvin attended the Studio Escalier in France to hone his talent in figurative art portrait painting with American artists Timothy Stotz and Anthony Ryder.
"Variations", which offers a variety of Garvin's talent, will benefit Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test. His oil painting Low Tide will be offered for silent auction at The Blue Diamond Gallery. Bids will be accepted from July 1st until the 31st via phone at 336.510.7509, via email at danielle@thebluediamondgallery.com or in person at 604 South Elm Street, Greensboro.
Working together, Vance and The Blue Diamond Gallery will host a fundraiser for Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test in memory of Nancy Koslowski on Wendesday July 23rd from 6-10pm.
"I lost a good friend to Breast Cancer." Says Garvin. "I hope by working with Friends, we can make a difference in the lives of women and men impacted by this disease."
